New Community Directory for Wicklow

New Community Directory for Wicklow

The newly re-designed online Wicklow Community Directory has been launched, with information on a wide range of clubs, groups and services across the whole of the county.

wicklowcommunitydirectory.ie is a community-led website and a great way to find out what’s available in your local area – with around 900 listings under 65 categories such as arts, sports, leisure, community groups, childcare, schools and colleges, information and advice, employment supports and public services.  There’s also a What’s On section listing upcoming events in your local community.

If you’re any kind of not-for-profit organisation or service – such as a community group, recreational, arts or sports club, school, college or public service – you can be listed on the website – there is no charge for listings, it’s easy to register and well worth doing, with more than 9,000 unique individuals logging on every year. Once registered you can also post your upcoming community events on the What’s On page. Log onto www.wicklowcommunitydirectory.ie to find out more. It’s important to note that the site does not generally list commercial companies or services.

Wicklow Community Directory is managed by a committee from the local community with members such as Co. Wicklow Children & Young People’s Services Committee, Co. Wicklow Volunteer Centre, Co. Wicklow Citizens Information Service, Co. Wicklow Partnership, Wicklow County Council, and Wicklow County Council Library Service, with administration carried out by Bray Area Partnership.

The recent update to make the site more vibrant, attractive and user-friendly was carried out with funding and resources from Co. Wicklow Children & Young People’s Services Committee, Wicklow County Council and Bray Area Partnership through the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme.

“We’re thrilled with the new site”, said chairperson Yvonne Ryan. “With new features like location maps, a wider range of categories, and community events listings for the county, the site is now the go-to place for anybody who wants to know what’s going on in their local community.”

You can log onto the directory at www.wicklowcommunitydirectory.ie.
