Following a pager alert by the Irish Coast Guard at 6.27pm on Sunday evening Arklow Lifeboat was launched to assist a jet ski which had developed engine trouble.
Arklow Lifeboat proceeded to the scene approximately 1 mile South of Arklow harbour and upon arrival, the solo jet skier transferred to the lifeboat and a tow line was established.
Arklow RNLI towed the casualty vessel back to Arklow, where the vessel was put safely ashore at the slipway adjacent to Arklow Lifeboat station.
Following the incident, Mark Corcoran, Arklow RNLI Community Safety Officer said,
“I’d like to compliment the lad who was rescued this evening, he made the right decision to Call for Help early, this ensured our volunteers were able to bring him home safely. I would also like to take this opportunity to remind people to Respect The Water and always make sure to carry a means of calling for help”
