After a long search Saint Patrick’s GAA club has secured a 30 acre site on the Greenhill’s Road.
The club had reached capacity in its current location at Dunbur Road which only has one full playing pitch and a small juvenile training pitch.
With 700 members, fielding teams at juvenile and adult level in football, hurling, ladies Gaelic football and the recent formation of a camogie club the pressure on pitch facilities was unsustainable.
This lead to the decision to search for a suitable site to develop further playing facilities in the town area. St. Pat’s home at Dunbur Road will continue to be the centre of the club activities.
Speaking on the announcement John Gill Chairperson of Saint Patrick’s GAA Club said “I am delighted with this development as this secures the long-term future for St. Pat’s GAA Club and its future members for generations to come.
We look forward to sharing our plans with all our members and supporters at the Information night on the 10th August at 8pm in the Clubhouse. I would like to thank those who have helped us this far and I look forward to the next chapter in our great club’s history”
