Aughrim based Wicklow Weather is warning Wicklow residents to prepare for #Ophelia on Monday.

Confidence continues to increase that this will be a major storm.

In advance people should check homes and business and prepare for power failures and widespread damage to agri/forestry possible too.

Latest data continues to confirm a track very close to or over Ireland.

Like all storm systems they can change track and gain or loose intensity at a minutes notice so be sure to keep a close eye on your local and national weather forecasts over the coming weekend.

“Be prepared” is the best advice we can issue to the public, homeowners and business.

Current indications suggest violent storm force winds across many areas of Ireland.

We would urge people to check loose fittings on properties and to closely follow advisories in terms of travel and commuting on roads, air, seas and rail.

If current data is correct expect widespread power outages and road blockages due to fallen tree’s and debris from buildings and properties

*Storm surge could also pose serious problems along our S to SW and SE facing coasts*
**AVOID COASTS NATIONWIDE***
**ESSENTIAL TRAVEL ONLY***
Hopefully this system will change track and or loose intensity by the time it reaches Ireland on Monday.
CONFIDENCE: 70%
