ACCA prize-winner honoured by AIB at awards ceremony in Dublin

Theresa Hatton, employee of Tokheim Ireland, has been recognised as one of Ireland’s highest achieving ACCA students in her five final ACCA professional level exams at an event hosted by AIB in AIB Bankcentre, Dublin. The prize giving event celebrated Theresa’s achievements along with new ACCA affiliate, Rachel Barnes, who also achieved first place in Ireland.

Theresa finished full time education in 2008 and worked as a payroll administrator before studying part time at Tallaght IT. The Wicklow student completed the Accounting Technician Qualification followed by the Accounting & Finance Degree before completing her ACCA exams between December 2015 and September 2017. Theresa studied at Griffith College and City Colleges and was the top affiliate in Ireland in September 2017 exams.

AIB Group Director of Finance Myles O’Grady, FCCA, who presented the winners with their awards said “AIB is delighted to sponsor ACCA’s Ireland Prizewinning Awards again.  Nurturing and developing talent so employees can bring the best of themselves to work each day is a key part of the sustainability of any business.  Awards such as these enable students to be the best they can be in the workplace. AIB’s purpose is to back our customers to achieve their dreams and ambitions, and we hope to see these talented graduates go on to achieve their dreams and ambitions”.

Liz Hughes, Head of ACCA Ireland stated, “Theresa has demonstrated that hard work, dedication and passion are rewarded, and her achievement is richly deserved. Not only has she achieved first place in Ireland, but she was placed within the top 15 Affiliates worldwide. This result showcases the accounting talent we have in Ireland and represents a bright future for talent within the financial services sector.

“Partnership between professional and corporate organisations is so valuable in helping to develop our finance leaders of the future and the positive professional partnership ACCA has enjoyed with AIB for over 30 years has been integral to the career development of many of our members.  We look forward to the continuation of that relationship for years to come.”
