Coláiste Bhride Open Night
Colaiste Bhride Carnew will hold its annual Open Night on Thursday 9th November from 6.30 to 8.00pm. Presentations on the curriculum, extra curricular activities, student supports and achievements will be evident and the principal’s address will take place 6.40 pm and 7.45pm. All are welcome.

Fundraiser Quiz Night
Alanna Davidson from the Coolboy area, is organising a table quiz to raise funds for a trip to Ethiopia in February with Gorta Self Help Africa. Alanna will travel with another student and teacher from Colaiste Bhride to visit and witness some of the projects first hand. The quiz takes place on Friday 24th November at 8.30pm in The Little Moon, Coolboy. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

 

Community Games

What a great evening of celebrations we had on 22nd October. A great turnout. Thank you to everybody for coming along to suppprt our awards for 10 years. To all our volunteers coaches parents committee and our great children well done. Here’s to the next 10 years

 

On 19th October we had our AGM and although it was small numbers it was quality of who were present. A committee was elected to go forward and lead our club into 2018. Chairperson Michael Duffy. Secretary Fiona Shannon. Treasurer Majella O’Shea. Assistant Secretary Mairead Penston. Assistant Treasurer Magali O’Driscoll. Child Protection Officer Fiona Shannon. Committee members. Tara Lyons. Caoimhe Byrne. Aine Lally. Fiona McAllister. We look forward to our new year and even more success.   New People and more volunteers always welcome so please don’t be shy. 

 

Athletics training continues for the next six weeks every Monday at 7pm for all school going children. 

 

Camogie

On November the 18th the girls of Annacurra Camogie Club are hosting their inaugural fund raising race. A lovely 5km Family Fun Run/Walk will run in conjunction with a tougher 10km competitive run. The 10km will head up Preban hill & peak where the 5 Boundaries of the local townlands meet. Both races will start at Annacurra Community Hall. Register online at popupraces.ie or on the day. Registration will be open from 9am to 10am on Saturday morning. Race starts at 10:30.

 

There are some super generous cash prizes for the 10km across age groups. €100 for first male and first female. Chip timed & all 10km contestants get a lovely tech tee. Fantastic family prizes to be had in the Family 5km, entry to Dublin Zoo for 2 adults & 4 kids, family of 4 anytime ticket to Dundrum on Ice, €50 Smyth’s voucher, €50 voucher from generous folks at Wooden bridge, 2 Golden Tickets to the Chocolate Garden of Ireland, 10 lucky dip Kids cinema deals from Movies at Gorey and much, much more.

Carnew Musical Society –  Sister Act

 

With a lot of hard grafting done and some work still to do by cast and crew, there is a great deal of excitement building up in anticipation for Carnew Musical Society’s production ofSister Act. St. Brigid’s Hall will rock to the music of this fabulous show, including songs such as Take me too Heaven, Raise your Voice, Fabulous Baby, Sister Act, Spread the love around and Sunday Fever.

 

As well as great music, Sister Act is hilariously funny and will be a great hit with the audiences. Naoimh Penston from Arklow, is both Musical Director and will the role of Dolores is teaching the nuns and the men of course…how to groove, while Graham Finnerty is teaching us all how to move to the groove as choreographer and Michael Dunbar as director is getting out the dramatic action and comedy .

Cast: Naoimh Penston takes on the role of  Dolores and Mother Superior will be played by Jennifer Byrne. The role of  Sr. Mary Robert is being played by Erin Hogan, Sr. Mary Lazarus will be played by  Thérèse Canavan Bolger, while Marie Dunne will take on the role of Sr. Mary Patrick. Monsignor O’ Hara will be played by John Young and Curtis by Bill Stafford while Brian O’Gorman will play Eddie, TJ,  Joey and Ernie will be played by  Jimmy Spellacy, David Cox and John Duignan and Padraig D’arcy who played the role of Jesus and various other lead roles with the Society will play the role of Pablo.  Sr. Mary Martin de Toures will be played by Mary Doran and Sr. Mary Teresa will be played by Anne Sheridan. Michelle and Tina will be played by Catherine Stafford and Clodagh Leacy.

As part of our healthy project and following on from the success of our earlier sessions we have organised a further six circuit training classes for our adult non players of all ages [ladies and gents].We kick off a six week pre Christmas programme on Friday November 10th in Annacurra hall under the supervision of David Blake .Cover charge 30 euro for all six sessions.All fitness levels catered for,you only do as much as you are comfortable with yourself.Please text Brian Moran on 087 2355748 if you wish to book a place advise your preferred time 7-8 or 8-9 demand will dictate available times.

Our seniors had a good win against Newtown on Saturday last in the Keating cup on a score of 1.10 to 11pts .We now play Bray on Saturday at 2 o clock in Arklow.

Also our club secretary Declan Byrne received a reward on behalf of the club in  Croke Park in relation to the healthy club.It was presented by Sean Kavanagh county footballer from Tyrone,this a very special reward for our club and one to be very proud  well done to all involved in making it possible
