The Avoca Senior Citizen New Year Party was held at the Woodenbridge Hotel on Sunday 14th.January ’18.
The Avoca Senior Citizen committee wish to thank Myles Doyle for his presentation of a cheque for €3,644. Partly from the proceeds of the Charity Clothing Bank at the centre, and from the Senior Citizens buckets which can be found at: Avoca Post Office, Avoca Chemist, Henley’s Shop and Café, Kelly’s Bar, P.G. Rowley’s Rathdrum, Leo’s Bar Conary, The Meetings Avoca, Farriers In White Bridge, and Delaney’s Shop Woodenbridge. We also extend our thanks to Philip Lee, Johnny Moules, and the Elves of Avoca Village for €600 generously donated from a Festive Function they held at Fitzgerald’s Pub Avoca during the Christmas season. Many thanks to everyone who donates to this worthy cause, the shops that support this scheme, and to all the staff at the Recycling Centre for their help.
Our thanks also go to the management and staff at the Woodenbridge Hotel for the beautiful meal that was served in the Hotel’s function room which had been festively prepared for the occasion, and for the attention we received throughout the day. Thanks also to Sam Anderson for his popular music and to Patricia Kavanagh and the Avoca Miners, a group of very talented young boy musicians aged from 6 to 12 years and Patricia’s 7 year old son, who sang, between them they had the audience calling for more. Much singing and dancing went on throughout the afternoon, which all made for a very enjoyable day out.
Thanks to you all.
