More weather misery as storm system set to hit overnight

Wicklow Weather has issued a further weather warning for the east of the country for tonight.

The Aughrim based forecaster are warning that winds are set to turn increasingly strong overnight, with some severe or damaging gusts likely in places.

“This forecast is a preliminary advisory so expect further changes or updates throughout the day as this unnamed system approaches Ireland,

“The incoming unnamed storm may well produce severe or damaging gusts as it crosses the country with eastern areas taking the brunt of this system.”

Winds are expected to increase throughout the day with wind speeds of 75kmh to 125kmh+ expected tonight and early tomorrow.

” There will be some relief for commuters  as this is an overnight storm when roads are not busy, however we would expect downed trees and powerlines as the storm tracks inland and exits eastern areas.”

Wicklow Weather will issue further updates in relation to possible upgrades or downgrades throughout today.
