Wicklow County Council opens the floor to the public on culture

The Culture Team of Wicklow County Council has announced that two public information and consultation workshops are being held on the 1st of February.

The Culture Team is due to prepare the county’s first five-year Creative Ireland Strategic Plan—in line with the Government’s legacy programme for Ireland 2016 —which is due to be launched this year.

The plan seeks to put a supporting framework in place for enhanced public engagement with culture and creativity among communities and individuals in County Wicklow.

A morning workshop will take place in Arklow Library from 11-1pm, while an evening one is to be held in Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, from 7-9pm.

The Culture team has said “the workshops will be an opportunity for interested individuals to meet with members of the Culture Team, find out more about the emerging strategy and to share ideas and feedback”.

They have expressed their particular interest in meeting members of Wicklow’s arts and heritage communities; members of societies and community groups; and individuals with an interest in all forms of culture and creativity.

Attendance is free and open to all but places are limited. To book a place, email Wicklow Arts Office at [email protected]

Written submissions can also be sent by email to Wicklow Arts Office.

All bookings and written submissions to be received no later than 12:00 on Tuesday, 30th January 2018.
