€145,000 allocated for new safety works at ”The Branch” Manor Kilbride

€145,000 has been allocated for new safety works at one of County Wicklow’s most notorious accident black spots.

Safety works are to be carried out at a junction on the R759 east of Manor Kilbride, locally known as “The Branch”. The road is popular with tourists traveling from South Dublin to The Sally Gap.

The announcement was made today by Wicklow County Council.

Speaking to WicklowNews, Local Councillor Gerry O’Neill said “Following many years of lobbying I am delighted to announce that this has been allocated.

This junction is one of the worst in the County and there’s hardly a week goes by without a collision.
I am especially happy for the people of Kilbride, many of whom were involved in accidents themselves at this black spot over the years, and I know it will be good news for all of them.
I also want to thank the officials of Wicklow County Council whom I have been in negotiation’s with for some time now but especially over the past two weeks, where there was a lot of work done to get this project over the line.”
