Wicklow manager John Evans has said that the primary goal for the Garden County is to build a team for the year ahead.
Wicklow will face Division Four joint-leaders Laois in the fourth round of the Allianz Football League this Sunday in Aughrim, having picked up two draws against Waterford and Antrim from their previous three games which also included a defeat away to London.
Speaking to the Wicklow People ahead of the game, the Kerry-native said that it will be a tough test for his side in Joule Park, but added that they needed to build on their showing against Antrim almost two weeks ago.
“We’re looking to build a team here. We battled well against Antrim and it was great to see but that can’t be a once-off, we need consistency in our game,” Evans said.
“We’ve already faced Antrim who would be one of the top three teams in the division, but Laois would probably be the table-toppers. It is a huge challenge and we’ll be looking to make an impression against them.”
