Greystones teenager Rachel Casey spent three years of her childhood battling Leukaemia.
Now she is helping help those who are in a similar situation by making grooming kits for families with sick children in Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin.
Rachel (17) who is a twin has been collecting items for sick children since Christmas and has had donations from the community as well as local businesses and charities.
She will return to Crumlin hospital today not only to meet the doctor who treated her when she was a child but with 400 kits which she has put together with the help of her family.
Speaking on RTE News this week Rachel said” She wanted to give back something to the hospital that was so good to her in her time of need”
Kathleen Kelleher of Greystones Cancer support said “She is a wonderful young woman she is a beacon in our group and we are very proud of her, last year she picked up a Garda Youth Award and an award in the Greystones “People of the Year Awards”.
Her story is a heartwarming one …and when she tells it there is not a dry eye in the house !!”
