Strike action for Lloyds Pharmacy staff escalates

Workers have been taking industrial action since June 14th.

Staff at Lloyd’s Pharmacies in Wicklow and around the country will step up industrial action against the company today, with a three hour strike action planned at 40 outlets.

The stoppage will get underway from 10 am until 1 pm this afternoon, with 250 workers set to take part including those in Wicklow Town, Baltinglass and Bray.

This is the third time that staff will strike in recent weeks, which they say is in a bid to secure better pay and work conditions, a sick pay scheme, elimination of zero hour contracts and improvement of annual leave entitlements.

Mandate Trade Union have also threatened three more strike dates next month if the pharmacy chain refuse to engage with them.
