Just days remain before this year’s Arklow & District Chamber Ball & Awards Ceremony and the shortlist of nominees has been revealed.
Three nominees have been chosen in each category and the overall winner will be revealed on the night after the independent judging panel has completed its deliberations.
The Ball will take place at the Arklow Bay Hotel on Friday, September 14th, and both members and non-members are welcome to attend. The evening will commence with a drinks reception at 7.00pm with dinner served at 8.00pm followed by the presentation of the awards.
Mr Bobby Kerr a well-versed Irish business man, entrepreneur, TV personality and host of “Down to Business” radio show on Newstalk will be the guest speaker on the night. In addition, local popular band, Black Cherry will provide the music for the event.
There was a fantastic response from the public to the award nominations this year. The Chamber office received several hundred nominations across the four categories and would like to thank all those who took the time to send in nominations.
The awards recognize local people and businesses and their achievements in the following categories which have been shortlisted ahead of the ceremony.
Rising Star Award, sponsored by Harmony Timber Solutions. (For any emerging business opened within the last 24 months).
Best Business for Customer Service Award, sponsored by ASL Safety & Training.
(For established businesses who excel in customer service in any sector, small medium or large).
Arklow Community Award, sponsored by The Arklow Bay Hotel. (For any business providing tourism related services or a community group or individual who helps support or promote tourism in the area).

Employee of the Year Award, sponsored by Glen Fuels Services Ltd (Any outstanding employee can be nominated by customers, co-workers or an employer).

The 2018 “Person of the Year Award” will be presented on the night to well-known Arklow athlete and hero, Mary Hickey who completed the Lap of the map in aid of the RNLI. This award kindly sponsored by Servier Ireland Industries, is in recognition of Mary, who through her amazing achievement, has made an outstanding contribution to the town and is a wonderful Ambassador for Arklow.
