A report released on the weekend has revealed that Bray Boxing Club, run by former olympic boxing coach Pete Taylor, owed €9,533 in unpaid rent to Wicklow County Council a month before the fatal shooting at the premises last June.
According to the UK edition of the Times, the records released under the Freedom of Information Act revealed that the club hadn’t paid rent since 2014.
It has also come to light that the club was operating outside the terms of the sporting grant used to renovate the building at a cost of €190,000 to the taxpayer.
The council have said that they hadn’t received the annual rent of €2,500 since September 2014.
Pete Taylor’s solicitor has said that the club had been paying a rent of €200 a year since 2005 and that no demand for rent was received until a September 2017 invoice of €7,500.
