Wicklow’s property tax to remain unchanged

Wicklow’s property tax will remain the same for the next year.

Councillors met yesterday to consider the variation of the basic rate of local property tax for 2019 where they could apply either a 15% increase or reduction on the base rate.

Council officials sought to increase the property tax by 10%, while one proposal to reduce it was voted down and another to keep it the same was passed.

Independent councillor for Greystone, To Fortune, wanted to reduced the tax by 15%, but told East Coast FM that the majority of the councillors felt that the rax should remain unchanged.
