CREATIVE APPROACH TO PERSONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Free six week course starting this Wednesday,  14 November,  9.30 am to 12.30 pm.

Run by Greystones Family Resource Centre & Bray Area Partnership.

Programme will be held in the Charlesland Community Centre.

Relaxed and non-judgmental environment.

Sessions will begin with a guided relaxatiion/meditation.

Creative activities such as the making of vision boards and life books.

The course will explore the following:

  • Understanding obstacles that hold us back from reaching our full potential.
  • Taking steps to remove those obstacles.
  • Begin to build real and lasting confidence and self-belief.
  • Using Mindfulness and Positive Psychology to find peace in a frantic world.
  • How to realistically turn our negatives into positives.
  • How to maintain positive mental health.

PICTORIAL HISTORY OF GREYSTONES & ITS COASTAL ENVIRONS|1760 to 2018

Fabulous new book in the series started by Derek Paine in 1993.

New book is Book Number 8 and is by Derek Paine and Gary Paine.

Launch takes place Sunday,  18 November,  Greystones Sailing Club,  3 pm to 5 pm.

stole laptop.

                                                            Theft of mobile phone left down in business premises.

                                                            Thefts from vehicles x 6.

                                                            Damage to vehicle.

One male was arrested and questioned in relation to four thefts from vehicles and the burglary.

These incidents occurred at approximately 8 pm by a male on foot.

Please be vigilant during the dark evenings.

Group meeting is for those caring for someone at home with dementia.

Memory Lane Music Group is a weekly group.

This group is for people with Alzheimer’s and/or their carers.

Singing is not only an enjoyable activity.

It can also provide a way for people with dementia,  and their carers,  to socialise.

They can express themselves and meet up with others in a fun and supportive group.

Greystones Archaeological & Historical Society

Donna Gilligan|Illustrated Lecture “A Missing History?”

Greystones Library,  Mill Road;  7:00 p.m.

The lecture will trace the objects and images of the Irish Women’s Suffrage Campaign.

Artefacts discussed will include flags,  badges,  posters,  postcards and cartoons.

As well as a wooden platform used by suffragette speakers.

Donna Gilligan is an historian.

She is a curator of the exhibition:

 

Print, Protest and the Polls.

The Irish Women’s Suffrage Campaign and the Power of Print Media.

 

This exhibition is running at the National Print Museum Beggar’s Bush Dublin.

Exhibition will continue until 18 November, 2018

Hot Spot Music Club|Filology Jazz Band with Jo Smyth

Above the Beach House at Greystones Harbour Marina.

Filology is a top-notch Cork-based band.

Roberto Carrazza on piano;  Cormac Hennessy on double bass;  John Philip Murray on drums.

Josephine Smyth’s sweet voice adds further variety to the sound.

The sound moves easily betweeen songs from the “Great American Songbook”.

Through to Be-bop and Latin American tunes.

Filology have performed in venues all over Cork,  including Connolly’s of Leap.

And the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival 2015 to 2017,  with plans for 2018.

Sunday evening residency at Counihan’s,  Pembroke Street,  Dublin, for the past year.

Doors open 8:00 p.m.

This is the Father Ed of stoner movies.

Jeff Bridges plays Jeffrey Lebowski,  who would rather you call him The Dude.

Hard to believe it’s been 20 years since the Coen Brothers directed this famous comedy.

Bridges is joined by John Goodman,  Steve Buscemi and Jon Torturro.

Coming to the big screen at The Whale,  The Dude will be celebrated with this 1998 classic.

Pre-screening groovefest includes the finest rug-fueled hippy classics on the sound system.

And,  of course,  White Russians at the bar.

It’s going to be a memorable night,  man !!  Don’t miss it !!

It provides an opportunity to produce a small piece of work in a relaxed and creative studio.

Your mosaics are then grouted by Des Fox and you can hang them in your home !!
