Aughrim notes week March 4th

Gaa

Club activities this week were completely overshadowed by the tragic death of Stephen O’Byrne in a car accident on Monday night. The sympathy of the club goes out to Stephen’s mum and dad Helen and John, his sisters Katie and Ciara and the extended O’Byrne family. Ar deis Dè go raibh a anam dilis.

Congratulations to clubman Robert Lambert who had a fine game in the goal for Wicklow senior footballers against Wexford last week. Despite losing the game Robert kept a clean sheet and did his club proud.  Our adult team played Avoca in our second game of this year’s league and lost out by three points in a match that was played in dreadful weather conditions particularly in the first half. Fielding a very much depleted team, the players on duty gave their all and were unlucky not to come away with a draw.
