Arklow Maritime Museum is seeking help in identifying three fishermen from a vintage photograph.
The black and white picture shows the men in good form on the deck of a fishing boat, with one of them cradling their latest catch.
“We have neither their names nor the date nor the name of the boat. Can anyone help?” the local sea-faring museum announced on its Facebook page.
Replying to the post, one commenter suggests the man holding the fish in the bottom left may be Patrick ‘Paddy’ Clancy (Brook Gardens). “[The] center is possibly another Clancy, and the boat is the Eibhlin.”
The man on the right of the photo is as yet unidentified.
Arklow Maritime Museum recently celebrated its fortieth year in operation. The museum was created to house the sea-faring souvenirs and treasures of local townspeople. Historically, many Arklow families had ties to the sea trade.
The museum, now housed in the Bridgewater Shopping Centre, is currently open to visitors every day of the week, 10am to 5pm.
