Health Minister Simon Harris is confident on delivering Primary Care Centres in Arklow and Greystones, a statement from his office read.
“Minister Harris has been in contact with the HSE on the issue and has been advised that the HSE understands that the developer is seeking to sell its portfolio and that there is market interest in taking over the developments. This should not materially impact on the delivery of this important primary care infrastructure.”
“These two primary care centres are key developments for Co. Wicklow and Minister Harris will continue to ensure these progress as quickly as possible ”
Yesterday Greystones Councillor Jennifer Whitmore described the news as a body blow for both Arklow and Greystones.
Cllr. Whitmore said “This is very bad news for the communities of Greystones and Arklow. People have waited years and years for these PCCs to become a reality and questions really need to be asked as to how this could be allowed to happen. This is especially concerning as we were only recently assured by the Minister for Health that these projects were progressing well, with planning permission granted for the centre in Arklow, whilst the Greystones centre was due to go for planning shortly. “
