Help Wicklow woman Rachel in her fight against cancer

Diagnosed with an extremely rare form of sarcoma on her 27th birthday, Wicklow woman Rachel McDermott has since bravely documented her fight with cancer on social media and now you can help her along her journey by donating whatever you can to her GoFundMe page.

Established by her fiancee, Nade, to help cover the costs of ongoing treatment, medications, and transport to and from hospital, Rachel’s GoFundMe page has already raised over €8,000, but the road to her recovery is long and every gesture of support, no matter how small or large, will be essential in helping her along the way.

As anyone who knows her will attest, Rachel has taken on her illness in a characteristically fearless and defiant fashion, posting regularly on Instagram from her handle @glassjaw_jackdaw where she updates followers on her condition as well as her day-to-day, and you can follow her story here.

Rachel will be receiving an intensive chemotherapy regime for the next 39 weeks, and while she is not short of courage or support from her family and friends, any and all support from the local community will be graciously welcomed.

Dublin’s LGBTQ community have already rallied together to organize a Sing Along Social event on Friday 3rd of May which will also be raising much-needed funds for Rachel’s ongoing treatment, and you can get more information at the official Facebook event page.

You can help make a huge difference in Rachel’s brave fight against cancer by donating whatever you can to her GoFundMe page.
