Cllr Winters calls on Irish Water to give longer notice before carrying out works

Cllr Irene WInters has called on Irish Water in future to give adequate notice of their intentions to carry out essential works in order to ensure the minimal obstruction to retail businesses in and around Wicklow Town.

The councillor said “It is simply not satisfactory to give just a short few days notice to retailers who after all, through their rates, fund many of these works.”

While Cllr Winters welcomes any works that improves the quality of water in Wicklow town, she is deeply concerned at the obstruction to retail trade in the town.

Cllr Winters has confirmed that she has been in touch with Irish water and they have assured her that their works will not at any time obstruct any specific area in the town for any more than ten days.
