Laragh and Glendalough Visitor Access Plans

Proposed plans are still available to view in the lobby of the Brockagh Resource Centre. Following last Tuesdays public meeting an extension to submit any concerns from the community may now be emailed to [email protected] before June 15th, 2019. There are substantial changes to the re-structuring of the area and it would be in everyone’s interest to view the proposed plans before works commence.

Note for Badminton

Main Badminton sessions are finished for the Summer now. Seniors on Thurs from 8-9pm are continuing for the following dates- May 16th, June 6th and 13th. Contact Philomena 087 2067607.

County Wicklow Older Person’s AGM

Join us for the County Wicklow Older Person’s Council AGM, taking place on the 31st May in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. Registration followed by tea and coffee from 9.45 to 10.30am. Opening from Chairperson Mai Quaid with guess speakers are Minister Andrew Doyle, Patricia Rikkard-Clarke. Lunch and a raffle, continuing in the afternoon with music by Liam Garrett performing at the tea dance.  No admission fee.

The Singing Angels Coming to Perform in Brockagh Centre
The Singing Angels, founded in 1964, will be performing in the main hall on the 13th June(start time TBC) in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. The mission is to engage youth from all communities in quality music and performing arts education that teaches teamwork, builds confidence, and provides a foundation for life. Since its debut, The Singing Angels has performed in 34 countries, sung with major celebrities, accompanied symphonies, and entertained dignitaries, presidents, and popes. The Singing Angels has been featured on national and international television, has performed four times at the White House, and has appeared in concert with a host of stars, including Celine Dion, Cathy Rigby, Eartha Kitt, Jon Conlee, B.J. Thomas and the US Army Band to name but a few. Everyone is welcome with free entrance and car parking.

Drama  School       

Drama classes are a fantastic way of developing confidence and encouraging creativity and imagination. Drama modules will incorporate improvisation, mime, script work, vocal training and acting skills. Students will also learn from the Irish Board of Speech and Drama syllabus and be afforded opportunities to take graded examinations under a fully qualified teacher. Elevation holds a 100% pass rate in IBSD examinations. Elevation Drama Junior (5.45-6.45pm) is held at the Brockagh Centre. Contact Kate on 086 8256775.

Elevation Dance School

Our Modern Dance classes focus on Jazz, Lyrical, and Commercial styles as well as ISTD syllabus work giving a well rounded understanding of the Modern Theatre style. Go to www.elevationschoolofperformingarts.com or contact Kate on 086 8256775 to find out more about her dance classes. Pilates Classes in Laragh

Pilates strengthens core muscles, improves muscle control, flexibility, strength and tone, as well as alignment and breathing. Zara Elkinson has trained and qualified through the STOTT Pilates Method of Movement. This method combines modern theories of exercise science with spinal rehabilitation, which gives a safe and effective exercise that sees results and is accessible to all. We Love Art

Art and crafts classes for children of primary school age take place on Monday afternoons.  Classes cover a wide range of art and craft techniques and processes, giving kids an outlet for creative self-expression while learning new skills.  Classes are small and places must be reserved in advance, the first class is free for new students. Adult Art Classes

Wednesday morning  drawing and painting classes are suitable for beginners as well as more experienced painters.  Students choose the medium(s) with which they wish to work, and develop their interests and personal style with Almha’s advice and guidance.  If you are thinking of getting back into your art, or trying something new to explore your creative side, now is a good time!  Classes are at 11-12.30pm in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh, commencing on September 19th. Parish Sale
RDA Hall in Rathdrum Saturday 25th May 1.00pm – 4.00pm in aid of Rathdrum, Laragh Glenealy C of I Parish Funds. Fun activities for all the family. Tea and coffee available, raffle at 3pm. Stalls include: Plants, Cakes, Jams, Crafts, Books, Bottle, CD’s, DvD’s, Brick-a-Brack, Toys and Games. Donations for all stalls are most welcome.
Items can be dropped to any of the churches on Sunday May 19th at service times, to the Rectory, to St. Saviour’s NS or to the RDA Hall on the 25th from 11.00am.
