Weekend Sports Round-up (14th-16th June): Newtown, Kilcoole seal back-to-back promotions!

As we go deeper into the summer months, the GAA club league season begins to wind down. Promotion and relegation from the different divisions of Wicklow football is being finalised, and with the championship right around the corner, the success of the various teams could well offer indicators as to how the next few months will go.

St. Pat’s joined Baltinglass, Tinahely, and Rathnew in the Dunne Cup semi-finals, Newtown and Kilcoole sealed back-to-back promotions to division one and 1A respectively, and Shillelagh/Coolboy capped off an impressive debut league campaign by way of a draw with fellow-undefeated Ashford.

Meanwhile, Wicklow Blue continued the Garden’s resurgence in hurling, by advancing to the semi-finals of the Celtic Challenge, the senior ladies were outmatches by Meath in the provincial championship, and Bray Wanderers got back on track in the Airtricity League First Division just in time for the mid-season break.

Relive all of this, as well as even more results across sport in County Wicklow, with our weekly sports recap below…
