Weekend Sports Round-up (12th-15th July): Bray Emmets sustain championship charge

Bray Emmets Club House

Bray Emmets have maintained their 100% record in the 2019 Wicklow Senior Hurling Championship, while Carnew suffered a late slip-up against reigning-champions Glenealy.

Bray sit at the top of the table on eight points out of eight, following a 4-15 to 1-08 win over Avondale, on Sunday. Those four goals bring their tally for the campaign to 10, while their +50 points differential sees them 35 points better off than Carnew Emmets in second.

As for Carnew, their defeat to Glenealy, which came courtesy of a late Gary Hughes goal, was their first loss of the championship season, rendering them two points behind Bray, and two points ahead of St. Pat’s and Glenealy.

Meanwhile, Wicklow recorded their first victory in three games in the All Ireland ‘C’ Camogie Championship, by virtue of a dominant 7-06 to 4-09 win over Tyrone, on Sunday, and the Wicklow lady footballers kicked off their All-Ireland Intermediate season with a 4-10 to 2-16 draw away to Longford.
