Blessington Cathaoirleach says Minister is talking codology

Cathaoirleach of the Blessington Municipal District Gerry O’Neill has hit out at Health Minister Simon Harris.

O’Neill said today.

“What the Minister told the people of Blessington at Russbrough is Codology.

Simon Harris TD announced last Sunday that we will have a swimming pool in 2 years.

He failed to mention where it will be built and where the funding is coming from and at what cost.

About the same time his colleague and Minister for Housing-Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy announced that the ONLY West Wicklow item in the 116 billion Eastern & Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy Plan (RSES) 2019 – 2031, ie the Light Rail System from Citywest to Blessington was to be removed from the plan.

Simon Harris promises should be taken with a pinch of salt, he knows and I know that the new Area Plan 2019-2025 for Blessington (most likely place for the new pool) is on hold following a request from his colleague Eoghan Murphy to suspend LAP’s till the completion of the RSES draft and to build a pool or anything else we need a site.

Now they tell us that the only item in the RSES for West Wicklow is scraped.

Every elected representative should be honest with the people who put them there.
Although most likely in 2 years time Harris wont be in Government so he can blame someone else……..the good old days of attempting to cod the people is seemingly alive and well.”
