Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to the Whelan family, Ballylaffin on the death of their sister Maureen Dennis. Maureen who passed away at the Hermitage Medical Centre following a short illness is mourned by her husband Davy, brothers James, Willie, Gerry, Pat, Larry and Eddie, sisters Lucy Mooney, Margaret Lynott, Breda Walsh, Majella O’ Malley and Colette Byrne and her aunt Sr. Margaret Whelan, nieces , nephews and many relatives and friends. Funeral took place in Dunlavin on Sunday October 13th 2013.

Celebrants at the funeral were Rev Fr. Larkin, Suncroft, Rev Douglas Malone, Dunlavin and Rev Fr Prenderville, Hollywood. May Maureen rest in peace.
Evening of Fashion and Fun

A colour me beautiful evening with Lys Jeffares takes place at Rathsallagh Golf Club on Friday 8th November at 8 pm. Welcome drink from 7 30pm. Dunlavin Inn Golf Society

The winners of the recent Captain’s day competition were 1st Shane Kelly, 2nd Christy Owens, 3rd Peter O’ Connor (Senior) Front 9 A. Heffernan, Back 9 N Dunne. Next Outing Sunday October 27th Druids Heath Tee off 11.45am. €30 includes prizes.
Christmas Work

Young people looking to earn some extra cash over Christmas should look west this festive season.

Rathwood retail centre on the Carlow/Wicklow border is looking to hire 100 seasonal staff for its new Christmas outlet.

The centre wants to hire 100 “elves” to work on its Christmas family experience, which includes a Santa’s Train. The Christmas experience will begin in mid-November and run seven days a week until Christmas Eve.

Tickets have been on sale since September 1 and are priced at €15 per child and €10 per adult. Almost 30,000 tickets have been sold for this year’s experience.

“We are looking to recruit fun, enthusiastic and outgoing Santa’s elves to ‘The Elf Academy’ to help Santa and Mrs. Claus meet and greet all the children who will visit. Successful elf-licants will be trained in the ELF to Z of Christmas magic as they will need to ensure a magical Christmas experience for children, each of whom will receive their own special gift from Santa,” says James Keogh, managing director of Rathwood.
Library Closure

Dunlavin Library will be closed from October 8th to 19th inclusive. Re-opening on October 22nd. The closure is to facilitate repair work. Apologies for an inconvenience caused.

Irish Dancing

Irish Dancing Class in Imaal Hall, Dunlavin every Wednesday evening commencing at 3.15 p.m. (hall open from 3.00 p.m.).
Strictly Come Dancing

The final of strictly come dancing will take place in St. Laurence’s GAA Hall, Narraghmore on November 9th 2013. Tickets are available at the Post Office. €15. Proceeds to the Playground Fund

Irish Dancing

There are Irish Dancing Classes in St. Nicholas Naofa National School every Wednesday at 3pm. All grades are catered for from 3 years upwards. Class teacher is Mary Byrne. TCRG-ADCRG.

Friendship Club

The friendship club has resumed on Fridays at 3pm in the Parish Centre. New members and helpers welcome.

CELLO LESSONS

Cello lessons for children will be restarting in Dunlavin on 17th September. They take place on Tuesday afternoons. Price is €12 per half hour private lesson payable in advance in two installments. Shuriken Jutsu Martial Arts Classes

Shuriken Jutsu classes starting in the Imaal hall, 6:45p.m – 8:15p.m from the 13th of September and every Friday thereafter.

The classes will cover street/self defence, weapons, blocks and locks and will help towards improving fitness, losing weight, boosting confidence and self discipline. Free Childcare Programme – Parents & Childminders

The Childminders Advisory Service H.S.E.in conjunction with Wicklow County Childcare Committee will host a free introductory childcare programme in Dunlavin Community Playschool on Saturdays November 9th and 16th (2 day course) 9.30 am – 4.30 p.m. This programme covers all aspects of setting up childminding from home including the voluntary notification system, tax exemption and childminder’s grant scheme. Why not try Chomp for a coffee or lunch on Saturdays. Chomp is open now from 10am to 2pm every Saturday in the former bakery at Murtagh’s. Some really nice breads to take home also.

Used Postage Stamps

Please keep you used postage stamps for St Patrick’s Missions Kiltegan who can use them to fundraise. Used stamps can be dropped into the parish office anytime. Thanks to all who have donated stamps over the past years.

Jackpot

Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm.Jackpot waiting to be won now stands at €1200. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
