Halloween message from “Arklow Against Animal Cruelty Group”

A message from Arklow Against Animal Cruelty Group:

It’s that time of year again, when our housing estates are bombarded with bangers at all times of the day and into the early hours of the night.

There’s an increase in dogs and cats going missing after being frightened with these incredibly loud noises and unfortunately there is still an element of extreme cruelty to animals involving absolutely vile acts towards family pets.

We do believe that as a community we can put a stop to these crimes if we all pull together.

We urge anyone with information or anyone who has witnessed such behaviour to report to the gardai immediately.

It is absolutely unacceptable to harm any animal in the name of ‘fun’. We plead to everyone to stop letting off bangers, not only for the sake of our pets but also our elderly, many of whom are vulnerable and live alone.

This anti-social behaviour is also damaging property as some groups find it amusing to fire at people’s homes and cars. It may be an Arklow tradition, but it’s time to end this particular one, once and for all.
