Car Boot Sale

The next Car Boot Sale, and the last for this year, will take place on Sunday 3 November. Vans must be booked in. Car Boot Sales will resume again in February – they are normally on first 1st Sunday but in February 2014 it will take place on Sunday 9 February (Roundwood Variety Group Show will take place on 2 February). Fireside Sessions
The October Fireside Session at Glendalough Green in Laragh will take place this Friday 25th October and will feature music from AMOON, AKA Andy Mooney, who will play a solo show with acoustic and electric guitars, sampler, Roland Mc-307 and vocals.

Also joining us are the artist Eva Maher and games developer Owen Harris. Eva will present a talk on her journey with willow- her own personal journey working with the material, notably living willow sculpture. Owen will present a talk on game play and strategy, particularly considering the importance of playfulness. More music from local musicians is to be confirmed on the night and the talented Kate Gisbourne will be MC’ing.

As ever, the Fireside Sessions take place from 7.30-9.30 and are free of charge. Glendalough Arts Network hope to see you all there.
Wicklow Walking Festival

Footfalls Wicklow Walking Festival will run from Friday the 25 until Monday the 28 of October.

The Festival will be based in the Brockagh Resource Centre. The weekend offers you a choice of: a night walk on Friday, a selection of day walks from challenging, moderate and easy on Saturday and Sunday, Wicklow’s 3-Peak Challenge over two days (Lugnaquilla 925m, Mullaghcleevaun 849m and Tonelagee 817m) and a moderate walk on Monday the 28.

All walks are led by experienced walking leaders who will enhance your day with information on local history flora and fauna. Please note: Walks may be changed on the day depending on weather conditions or the fitness level of the group at the leader’s discretion.

Glendalough Trail Run

The Glendalough Trail run (or you can walk or jog) is a 15.5km course which takes place on Saturday 9 November with registration at the Brockagh Centre.

The Glendalough Trail is a fantastic running experience with a route that is scenic, challenging and safe. Not only will it be a fun, enjoyable day but we hope to raise much needed funds for Fighting Blindness. Glendalough Country Market & Gift Fair

Our next markets are the Christmas markets which will take place on Sundays 8 and 15 December. Lots of hand-made and unique Christmas gifts to buy; Home baking, Jams & Chutneys, Christmas Puddings & Cakes, Jewellery, Novelty Bird Tables, Hand knits, Fairy Doors, Aloe Vera, Candles, Christmas Wreathes, Glass & Pottery, Plants and much, much more. Badminton Adults

Adults badminton – try it out. Have you wondered about badminton but are not really sure. Come along any Tuesday night at 8 p.m. or Thursday night from 9 p.m. Badminton rackets provided, friendly atmosphere.


Active Retirement

The Active Retirement monthly lunch takes place on Tuesday 5 November at 12.45pm in the Wicklow Heather. The group are also planning to go to Ronan Collins and his showband with a 4 course lunch n the Ballsbridge Hotel on (formerly Jury’s) 13th or 14th December. The cost is 47 euro (transport will be extra) and must be paid in full before 5 November. Only those that have paid in full before 5 November will be booked in.
Get Yourself On Line

The new Get Yourself On Line is proving to be very popular. The course offers to help those with little experience of the internet. The course provides an easy step-by-step course where you will discover: email attachments, search engines, on-line transactions such as paying motor tax, podcasts, playbacks, on-line safety and security, skype, on-line banking, buying on line. Our next daytime course starts on Wednesday 4 December 11am until 1pm and an evening course will start on Tuesday evenings from the 12 November. This is a free course for those over 65 and cost €10 to those under 65 (also a contribution towards tea/coffee will be required). Those who have done our previous Get Yourself on Line are not eligible to get funding for this course but can pay a fee of 25 euro if they wish to take part. Happy Days

Happy Days at the Brockagh Resource Centre every Wednesday morning from 10.30am until 12.30pm for carers and toddlers – from babies up to pre-school age. Tuesday Night – Dance Night

The Wicklow Man is back to his usual Tuesday night slot in the Brockagh Centre from 9.30 p.m.
Gymboree is back in Laragh

Gymboree is back at the Brockagh Centre on Friday mornings from 10-11am. Gymboree is for all children aged 6 months to 4 years. It is an hour of active fun, promoting a love of music through song, dance, movement games and musical instruments. Only 7.50 euro per class (full term payable on enrolment). SongCraft – Singing Workshops for Adults

Songs to set your spirit soaring. Sing big, sing strong, sing loud and proud. Come and learn a range of uplifting and upbeat songs from across the globe to your heart racing and send your spirit soaring. AA Meetings

Closed AA Meetings are held in the Brockagh Resource Centre in Laragh at 8.30 p.m. every Monday night. If you think that you may have a problem with alcohol please come along.
