Tinahely Notebook – October 28th

TINAHELY WOMENS’ NETWORK- Thursday November 7th
To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice come join us as we celebrate the works of Jane Austen. You may like to read a snippet from a Jane Austen book. We expect many ladies might like to do this, therefore, a very strict two minute “window of opportunity” will be allowed. Another option if you wish why not come dressed in the style of the period. Ladies dressed in this mode will have their tea served in the finest china.

If that does not appeal to you why not write a mini saga in the style of Pride and Prejudice – maximum 50 words.

This promises to be a great opportunity to catch up with friends, enjoy a chat or gossip in a great atmosphere. New members welcome.

Tinahely Community Projects want to thank everybody that helped make the recent Playground opening such a success, these include but are not limited to the following:

Kieran Fitzgerald for sponsoring and entertaining everyone with his music and amplification; Jim Byrne for sponsoring a bouncy castle; Kieran O’Keeffe for sponsoring a bouncy castle; Symes Newsagents for their generous donation of ice cream for everyone; all the kind people who baked, brought cakes and buns and all the ladies who ensured the teas and coffees were in ready supply, working tirelessly to keep everything running smoothly; the Wreckless gang from Gorey for sharing and displaying their skateboarding skills; Vincent and Mary Blake for their generous donation of chicken nuggets and sausages for everyone; to Shona, Megan, Sinead, Emer Rose, Anna, Aoife and Sarah for face painting; to the Kare Centre for the use of their premises; Karl Perry and the Community Hall committee for their assistance; to Joe Dunne for stewarding the carpark; to Rev Ruth Elmes and Fr Ray Gahan for blessing the playground and finally, the children: Heidi, Kayla and Aaron for cutting the ribbon to open the playground.

All combined to make it “the best day ever”.

We’d like to apologise to the children that came to the playground on ensuing days and were disappointed that ice cream, buns, and bouncy castles were not to be a daily feature.
