Arklow RNLI launched the lifeboat station’s new history book entitled “To the Banks and Beyond: A history of Arklow Lifeboat Station from 1826-2013” on Friday.
Written by local historian Jim Rees, the book covers the history of the station from its opening in 1826, looking at some of the more dramatic rescues, the sad services and some of the more routine operations.
There is a section on some of the many characters who have graced the station with complete listings of all Coxswains & Mechanics who have served at the station. The book also looks at fundraising at the station through the ages and along with complete Arklow RNLI service listings.
There are very old black and white and modern full colour pictures throughout including some that have only been made available for this great book.
The limited edition of 100 only hardbacks has already sold out and paperback are now available for €15.00. To order contact the station shop at 00353 402-32850 or email@example.com or contact the Arklow RNLI Fundraising Page through Facebook where you can buy the book online through the shop Button.
