ATC condemn vandals after thousands of euros worth of damage

arklow main street

ATC and the town Councillors have condemned the vandalism on the towns Main street on Friday night/Saturday morning.

Bollards, lights and traffic cones that were put in place for the new one-way system were pulled from the ground and scattered from the Parade ground down as far as Kings hill.

An eyewitness told Wicklownews.net they were coming out of the pubs then sword fighting, playing 10 pin bowling and cricket.

They blocked off the Main street, Bridge street and Laffins lane all in the name of fun.

The town Councillors were united in the condemnation in the vandalism saying whether you are for or against the one-way system there is no need for this wanton act of stupidness.

The town council have asked the Gardai to view CCTV from local premises in hope of catching the culprits.

Staff from ATC were replacing the damaged bollards on Saturday morning many of which were burnt.
