A consortium of local organisations led by Bray Area Partnership has been awarded up to €838,604 funding to implement an innovative family support initiative in the Bray area over the next three years.
The new initiative will be called SPECS (Supporting Parents & Early Childhood Services), is one of 13 initiatives to be funded nationally under the Area-Based Childhood (ABC) Programme 2013-16.
The ABC programme invests in early childhood education including successful transitions to primary school, literacy and behavioural development.
ABC will also include programmes to support parents to tackle the early onset of behavioural and emotional problems in children, and also reduce their own stress and improve their well-being.
Jennifer D’Arcy, Bray Area Partnership, said: “We’re delighted to have been able to secure this funding for the Bray area. So many groups have worked so hard with us to develop this proposal and it is with great enthusiasm that we look forward to moving now to the design and implementation stage of this important initiative.”
