Tinahely Walking Club

On Sunday November 10 the walk is Ballycumber (B walk), meeting in Tinahely square at 10.00am. Schedule for walks after Nov 10 will be announced shortly. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear. Full walking schedule is on the Tinahely.ie website.


Kevin McEvoy

Kevin McEvoy, has been selected as the Wicklow Representative in the National Calor Community Champion Competition. Kevin works tirelessly in a voluntary capacity for the local community and is a hardworking and vital member of many committees in the area giving immeasurable time to each. You can vote once a day until November 8th so please vote as often as possible and spread the word. Kevin would make a very worthy Calor Community Champion.

Kevin’s natural instinct has always been to volunteer his services to whoever needs them, whether it be family, school or community. He is always on hand within minutes to sort any problem having an inherent talent to anticipate what needs to be done and to just go and do it. Kevin works tirelessly in a voluntary capacity for his community and is a hardworking and vital member of many committees in the local area giving immeasurable time to each. He mostly works in the background, making sure everyone is looked after, that everything runs smoothly and without fuss.

Kevin is:

• The dedicated Vice Chairman of the St. Brigid’s Hall Committee, which is currently undergoing refurbishments. He is passionate about keeping the facility in top condition for all who use it.

• Chairman of Carnew Heritage Club who run an Annual Heritage Day and Tractor Run raising much needed funds for the ‘Friends of Local People with MS’ and Carnew Community Care.

• Committee member and lighting technician with Carnew Musical Society and Kilrush Drama Group, spending hours for both groups preparing for shows, being the first there for all productions and the last to leave.

• A founder member of South Wicklow Drama Festival which hosts nine groups from around the country annually, providing live theatre locally.

• A hardworking member of the Carnew Agricultural Show Committee, Carnew Ploughing Association, Ballyroebuck Hall Committee and Carnew Traders and Friends.

And all in his spare time!


Carnew First Responders are holding a public CPR evening in November and December if you would like to be trained in CPR and use of an AED contact of any of the group or Susanne 0876204562.


Carnew ladies football are holding their AGM on Friday 8th November at 8 pm in Kenny’s Corner House, all welcome to come along.


Carnew Agricultural Show Society are holding a Race Night on Friday 22nd November at 9pm in Kenny’s Corner House, horses only €10 from any of the committee, this is a great nights entertainment so come along and cheer on the horses, all welcome.


Carnew Heritage Club are holding their presentation night on Sunday 10th November at 8.30pm in McCrea’s Lounge, Carnew with music on the night, anyone who helped out on the day is most welcome to come along.

Kieran Finn, Munny would like to say a sincere thank you to everyone who helped or attended his 21st birthday recently in Kenny’s Corner House.


The committe of Tomacork would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported and attended thier annual cabaret recently and to Martina and Michael for the music, a good night was had by all.


Zumba fitness classes takes place in The Lodge Carnew on Monday’s 8.30 – 9.30pm and Wednesday 8.00 – 9.00pm in the Little Moon Coolboy on Thursday 7.30 – 8.30pm. Classes are €6 or €5 for students, see j’s zumba classes on facebook for more information.


Carnew Community Care will hold their November Fair on Friday 15th November, doors open at 7pm sharp, admission free. All the usual stalls, cakes, ric a brac, bottle stalls, crafts, books, toys, Boutique Second Hand shop with good as new items stall, raffles monster raffle 1st prize €300, 2nd – €200, 3rd €100, 4th rich fruit cake. Tickets book of 3 €2. Your support would be greatly appreciated.


Askamore Community Council are holding a fundraising auction on Sunday November 17th at 3 pm, so start decluttering your rooms and garages, no tv’s or children toys please.


Askamore Hall are holding their AGM on this Friday 8th November at 8pm all are welcome to come along.
