Sympathy
Sympathy is extended to the Cronin Family on the recent death of Lorraine Canty (nee Cronin) in England. Lorraine who was 42 died after an illness was a daughter of Tim and Mairead Cronin. Lorraine is mourned by her parents, husband Mark, twin daughters Meghan and Alaina, sisters Geraldine, Janet and Sharon, brothers Timothy and Adrian, her many relatives and friends. Many of her relatives travelled to England last week for the funeral. May Lorraine rest in peace.
News from Scoil Nicholas Naofa
The school choir are busy rehearsing for the Peace Proms concert which takes place in the City West Hotel on February 1st. They will sing at the turning on of the Christmas lights in Dunlavin on Saturday week December 7th, at a schools carol service in Ballymore on December 16th and at the 10am Christmas Day Mass.
The Board of Management has made a submission regarding the Eirgrid pylon plans. Many thanks to Niall Healy for his work in this regard.
5th Class Music Generation Teacher Jennifer, will have a concert for parents on Friday 13th December at 11.30pm. 5th class will sing along with children from the Johnathan Swift School
We are building an insect hotel for our school garden. Thanks to Francis O’Reilly for all his work with this project. We are collecting straw, ivy, logs, bricks, twine and small corks. Collection boxes can be located inside the main door.

Donard Glen Camogie Club
A very successful Table Quiz was held in Toomey’s on Friday last. With 21 tables taking part in a very enjoyable night’s fun with quiz master David Case. The winning team were Annemarie & John Clarke, Alfie & Rose Zeller. In 2nd place were Julie Walshe, Shane Kelly and Barbara Walshe. The Christmas hamper raffle also took place on the night with Denis Slevin Dunlavin winning the hamper. Other prize winners on the night were Paddy O’Neill Whitestown, Maggie Whelan, David Brennan, Filie Cullen, Clair Whelan, John Bollard, Fionnuala Tyrrell, Maire Lennon, John Lawlor, Michael Lawless and Laura Lennard. Club president Bridy O’Neill thanked The Toomey family for hosting the quiz, all sponsors, supporters, players and all who helped the club in any way in 2013.

Christmas Lights
Dunlavin & District Forum would like to invite the Community to a reception in the Market House on Saturday 7th December at 5pm followed by the turning on of lights at 6pm with Christmas Carols.
The Christmas Fair will take place in the Imaal Hall on Sunday 8th December from 10am until 4pm. We have a great variety of stalls and we will have a visit from Santa in the afternoon. Come along to join in the festive fun and support local enterprise.
CHRISTMAS FAYRE – Donoughmore Hall
Once again this event will take place on Sat. 7th December from 2 – 6 pm at Donoughmore. This is an afternoon out for all the family, some of the great attractions are: Christmas table centres and wreaths for sale, also there will be Cakes, Plants, Toys, Jewellery, Bottle Stall, Household, and Monster Christmas Raffle.
For those who love food there will be crepes, hot chocolate, chocolate fountain and of course, lovely teas. There will be a Silent Auction with some great items to bid on. For the younger folk there will be lots of games to participate in, i.e throw the wellie, hook the reindeer, lucky dip and more.
Do come and enjoy the afternoon. Admission free and lots of parking.

Friedrich’s Ataxia Christmas Cards
The Christmas cards are on sale again this year. They have the usual wide variety of cards but the organisers also have a very pretty card showing Cork city, Treaty Stone in Limerick as well a beautiful view of O’ Connell Bridge, Dublin. They are on sale at the usual outlets in Dunlavin Centra, Roche’s Pharmacy and Dunlavin Health Centre; O ‘Keeffe’s Donard, Daly’s Hollywood, Murphy Sheerin Veterinary, Baltinglass, Berney’s Pharmacy, Kilcullen, McGreal’s Pharmacy Blessington, The Office Shop , Blessington, Crookstown Motors . Cards are sold in pack of 15 at €8 per pack. There are three different cards in each pack of 15. SANTA’S WINTER WONDERLAND
Santa has just sent word that he will be visiting Moat Farm, Donard, for one weekend only, due to his busy schedule on the 14th and 15th of December from 2-6pm. Visit to Santa is 10 euro per child, adults free. No booking required.
CRAFTS WANTED
Stalls are available at Santa’s Winter Wonderland in Donard for any crafts person wishing to find an outlet for their produce. The event will take place on one weekend only the 14th and 15th of December from 2-6pm. For booking and further info contact Heather at 087 9666918.
Culture Bus
The culture bus will travel to the National Concert Hall on Saturday December 7th 2013 for “It is still a wonderful music life” by the Glasnevin Musical Society. The concert will feature Broadway hits from Meet me in St Louis, Carosel, Oklahoma, Cole Porter, Cabaret, West Side Story, Evita, Sondheim, Disney and favourite Christmas Classics and Carols. Bus will leave Dunlavin at 11am, concert at 3pm; will also take in Eileen Gray exhibition in the concert hall. Return to Dunlavin at 7pm. For details telephone 0879693960. Social Badminton

Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm.Jackpot waiting to be won now stands at €1200. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
