COUNTY WICKLOW EDUCATION PROGRAMME

Eligible Not for profit Community and Voluntary Groups are invited to apply for funding for the period January to June 2014:  provide for opportunity for members to learn new skills and/or to support the work of your group in various topics.

POLLING DISTRICTS AND POLLING PLACES

NOTICE OF THE MAKING OF A DRAFT POLLING SCHEME

Wicklow County Council has prepared a draft scheme dividing the County into Polling Districts for the purposes of elections and referendums and appointing a Polling Place for each Polling District.

 

Copies are available for inspection at Greystones Town Council.

They may be purchased for €10.

Representations may be made up to 18 December, 2013.

SIAMSA FHÉILE PÁDRAIG SEEKING COMMITTEE MEMBERS + LOCAL TALENT

Siamsa Fhéile Pádraig is Greystones’ annual concert celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

Siamsa is a  local cultural not-for-profit event and has been held since 1983.

 

New Committee Members are needed for 2014.

Can you help with next year’s event ??

Have you an interest in Irish music,  song,  dance or story telling ??

Why not  join us and help make next year’s event even better ??

 

Siamsa hopes to change the format for 2014.

This will provide a better platform for local talent.

Emphasis will be placed on younger artists.

They may take a more contemporary approach to traditional cultural art forms.

This could include music,  singing, dance or story telling.

The aim is to help promote and stimulate broad cultural development in Greystones.

This will include widening the audience base of the event + ensure its inclusivity.

CHANGES TO EMERGENCY SERVICES IN SOUTH COUNTY DUBLIN/WICKLOW

From 27 November, 2013,  Emergency Services for our area are being transferred from St. Columcille’s Hospital,  Loughlinstown to St. Vincent’s University Hospital.

 

LOCAL INJURIES UNIT and MEDICAL ASSESSMENT UNIT will operate at St. Columcille’s Hospital from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seven days a week from the same date.

 

These units will deal with non emergency conditions for which hospitalisation is not expected and with referrals from GPs.

 

In a serious emergency,  please go to Emergency Department at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

If there is an emergency situation or if you need an ambulance,  please dial 999 or 112.

Guided Native Woodland Walk in Glen of the Downs

Meet at Glenview Hotel Car Park;  12:00 p.m.

Walk will last until approximately 2:00 p.m.

Sponsored by Native Woodland Trust

 

The lands surrounding the Glenview Hotel are home to some of Ireland’s most beautiful and rare native woodlands.  This guided woodland walk starts in the gardens of the hotel and takes you into the glen past babbling brooks and mature trees.

 

Information will be given about the native woodlands and the wildlife they contain.  There will be an opportunity for coffee after the walk.  Event is free for NWT Members,  with a suggested donation of €4.00 for non Members.

Shoreline Leisure Centre,  8:30 p.m.

Change of date from 14 November.

 

Dr. Jane Rothwell is a breast cancer surgeon working at St. Vincent’s University Hospital.

Her talk will be of great interest.

Especially to those with breast cancer or those with an interest in breast cancer.
