A large crowd gathered in St Patrick’s GAA on Saturday to celebrate St Patrick’s Ladies juvenile section’s most successful year to date.
Building on a great year in 2012 and with a table laden with trophies and medals, the celebrations began. With bouncy castles and face painting creating a party atmosphere, the evening started with presenting medals to the Nursery, U8 and U10 teams. Medals were then presented to the successful U12A, U14A, U16A and Minor A County Champions.
The U12A team retained their League and County titles this year beating very close rivals AGB in two very competitive games. The U14A team started the year winning the Feile qualifiers and representing Wicklow for the second year in a row in Feile in Derry. They came out victors against Tinahely in the county final with the league final yet to be played. They also competed in Dublin league and Kilmacud Crokes 7s competition this year.
The U16A team were beaten in their League final by a strong AGB team but retained the U16A county title overcoming Tinahely in the final. The minor title has eluded the club over the last couple of years but the Minor ladies managed to win the title this year overcoming Baltinglass in an exciting final. Running a Gaelic 4 Girls programme and Summer Parish League enabled the club to enter U12B and U14B teams into Championship for the 1st year.
The U14B team won the C Shield against Eire Og. The hard work and dedication of all the committee, managers, mentors, parents and players was acknowledged by Georgina Cruise, Chairperson of the Ladies section and recognised as a huge contributor to the most successful year to date for St Patrick’s Ladies Juvenile Section.
