Wicklow Rotary Club Appeal for victims of Typhoon Haiyan

The Rotary Club of Wicklow has launched an appeal for funds to provide shelter for families who have fallen victim to Typhoon Haiyan.

Rotary International has partnered with Shelterbox and already more than 700 shelterboxes have been despatched to the Philippines.

A Shelterbox is packed with essential survival items such as a specifically designed tent that can accommodate a large family. The tent itself is designed and manufactured to withstand the ravages of nature and most importantly provides shelter for families who have lost everything. Also included in a Shelterbox are blankets, water purification equipment, a stove, cooking utensils, blankets, ground sheets and something you would not expect – colouring books and pencils for children who like adults have also lost everything!

The Rotary Club of Wicklow hopes to raise sufficient funds for as many Shelterboxes as possible and donations can be made to the following bank account Project Account Bank of Ireland Wicklow Sort Code 90 67 34 Account Number 71649421
