A song written by schoolchildren from Tipperary with the help of Wicklow singer-songwriter Luán Parle is being hotly tipped for Christmas number one in Ireland.
The song, “MyHero”, was written by pupils from Presentation Secondary School Clonmel in honour of their late teacher, Alice Strain, who tragically died in a car accident last April.
The transition year class composed the track as part of RTÉ’s Big Music Week Train, which saw Luán and music producer Gavin Ralston travel around the country holding music workshops with TY pupils.
Paddy Power are taking bets on the song to be this year’s Christmas number one.
The song has received incredible feedback from the public to date and RTÉ has decided to release the track on iTunes just in time for Christmas.
All the proceeds from the song are going to a charity of the girls’ choice and the single can be downloaded here.
