Bray Wanderers have announced the appointment of Alan Matthews as their new First Team Manager. A former player with Wanderers, he had previous managerial spells with Shelbourne, Drogheda United, Cork City and Longford Town.
He will be joined by another former Wanderers player, Barry O’Connor who will take up the role of Assistant Manager.
A statement from the club issued on Friday night read.
On behalf of the club we would like to thank Pat Devlin and his back-room team for the marvellous service that they have given to Bray Wanderers since our entry into the League of Ireland in 1985” said Bray Wanderers’ General Manager, Jack O’Neill.
New Seagulls boss, Matthews is looking forward to his new role at the Carlisle Grounds.
“I am delighted to have been given this exciting opportunity and look forward to commencing pre-season training. There are a lot of good people at this football club and both Barry O’Connor and I will put all our energy and commitment into having a successful season in 2014” he said enthusiastically.
The Seagull’s first home game of the 2014 Premier Division season falls on March 14 against Sligo Rovers
