Arklow man John Hogan wowed the judges on last night’s episode of The Voice of Ireland on RTÉ One.

Singing an original song, John was the standout performer of the night and four judges vied to make him a part of their team.

After much deliberation he chose Dolores as his mentor and now goes forward to the ‘Battle’ rounds of the competition.

John got a great response and was complimented on his songwriting skills by Bressie and impressed Dolores with his yodelling.

An experienced musician, John has toured around Europe with Dancemasters and Gaelforce, performing to sell out audiences of up to 3000 people a night.

Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan has proved popular with the contestants, winning them over with her straight talk and words of encouragement.

Through the next four weeks, each coach will pick their perfect ten acts in the blind auditions and pit them against each other in the Battle stages. They must then make the decision which of the two they will take through to the live shows.

Last series’ winner Keith Hanley has just finished recording his album which will be released this year.
