Red Kite Walk
The Red Kite Signage is ordered and was delayed as we linked with The Golden Eagle Trust for some more projects around the village and in the Woods – final confirmation of logos etc were received recently and the signage will be with us shortly – we are holding off setting the official opening date until we have the signage as there has to be a final inspection by the National Tracks & Trails Office prior to Coillte taking over the walk and publishing it on their Outdoor Website and then it becomes an official walk, in the meantime many members of the community are enjoying the walk on a daily basis. The link with the Golden Eagle Trust will involve a remote web cam being placed in a Red Kites nest with footage being fed back to the Old Courthouse Heritage Centre where members of the public can view the chicks as they hatch and are fed, story boards of Birds of Prey will also be placed along the way & in the village. The Sli na Slainte signage was handed over to Wicklow County Council & have been erected. We have volunteers ready & willing to erect the Red Kite signage in the woods as soon as it is to hand. We want to thank all our supporters & volunteers who made this possible, also the local person who has made the entire project possible by making the funding available, as the grant can only be drawn down after all expenses are paid and the bank statements with the payments being paid out are presented. This is a wonderful amenity for the community that we can continue to build on. Watch this space for our opening date and everyone will be welcome to come along.
