Dunlavin Festival of Arts
A meeting of Dunlavin Festival of Arts will take place in Meitheal on Saturday February 1st at 12 noon. Anyone with new ideas for festival 2014 is welcome to come along. This year’s festival will take place on June 20th, 21st and 22nd 2014.
Church Fundraisers
The following events are being organised as fundraisers for the new church floor in St Nicholas of Myra Church.
There will be a party night on the 16th March in the Imaal Hall, where Sean Daynes will shave his beard off provided we get sponsorship for over €2,000. The operation transformation/fundraiser is going well and we have another group doing the “Run-a-muck” fundraiser on the 1st march. All proceeds will go towards the Church floor. It is also hoped to do some Line Dancing on March 16th and our own “Gedward” might even make an appearance on the same night. Music on the night will be by “Sister Act”. While the church is closed for these renovations Mass is being celebrated in St Nicholas’s Church Of Ireland Church at 8pm on Saturday evening and 10am on Sunday mornings.
The following committee were elected at the Dunlavin Inn Golf Society AGM last week Captain for 2014- PJ Harte, committee Johnny Allen, Johnny Willis, Anthony Deering, Peter O’ Connor, Dave Carty, Keith Willis and Carmel Caplis. The first outing of 2014 will take place on Saturday February 22nd to Tulfarris at 10am. Membership €35. New members welcome.Golf Society AGM

Culture Bus
The culture bus will travel to the National Concert Hall on Sunday February 2nd to attend the best of the big bands. Chris Dean and the Syd Lawerence Orchestra will take a trip down memory lane. Bus will leave Dunlavin at 11am, concert at 3.15pm, return to Dunlavin before 7pm. Enquiries to 0879693960

Why not drop into the newly refurbished library in the Market House. Great selection of new books especially for children. Membership is free, free WI-Fi and internet access. Opening hours Tuesday 6.30pm-8.30pm, Wednesday 3pm-5pm, 6.30pm-8.30pm.Friday 10.30am-1pm and 3pm-5pm. Saturday 11am-1pm. Closed Saturdays of Bank Holiday weekends.
Gormanstown/Usk Group Water Scheme
The annual general meeting of the Gormanstown/Usk Group Water Scheme will take place on January 27th in Camphill Community Hall, Grangebeg at 8pm. All members of the scheme are invited to attend.
Volunteering
If anyone has a few hours to spare on a Tuesday morning Meals on Wheels are looking for volunteers to cook or drive, phone 0879693960 if you can help out. A special thanks to the people who are hanging up the aprons and car keys after many years of quietly giving up their time. The meals would not have continued without their support.
Hope(d) Counselling Services
We are at 3 Limerick Lane, Newbridge, Co.Kildare and were established in 2003 have been providing counselling services in the Kildare area for over ten years. Over the years our qualified counsellors have provided support to a broad range of people, particularly those who cannot afford to pay for private counselling. We do not let a persons financial position deter them from utilising our counselling service. All we ask is that you donate what you can, only if you can. Our counsellors offer support in numerous areas, including depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, bereavement, low self esteem, addiction, suicide support group, acupuncture and many more. Flower Club
The February meeting of Dunlavin Flower and Garden Club will take place on February 12th 2014 at 8pm in the Jonathan Swift Hall. It will be a work night, bring your own flowers. Brenda Delaney is unable to attend as had been arranged. New members welcome.
News from Scoil Nicholas Naofa
The school choir are busy rehearsing for the Peace Proms concert which takes place in the City West Hotel on February 1st.
We are building an insect hotel for our school garden. Thanks to Francis O’Reilly for all his work with this project. We are collecting straw, ivy, logs, bricks, twine and small corks. Collection boxes can be located inside the main door.
First Holy Communion next year will take place on Saturday May 17th at 11am. 2014

Jackpot
Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm.Jackpot waiting to be won now stands at €1200. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
