It was a happy New Year for Arklow woman Mary Kehoe, who hit the jackpot in Kavanagh’s Newsagents on Wexford Road, claiming the six hundred euro in the monthly magazine draw.
Customers are entered into a draw when purchasing a magazine in-store and receive a ticket for the monthly Magazine Madness draw.
The Arklow store holds a monthly draw offering €100 each month to a customer and on the first day of every month, a customer selects the winning ticket and the winner must produce that ticket to claim their cash prize. If the prize remains unclaimed then the total on offer rolls over.
Much to the amazement of owner Colm Kavanagh, no winners have come forward over the past few months and the cash prize on offer has risen, with €600 up for grabs throughout December for any customers purchasing magazine titles.
That all changed on Friday last when local woman Mary Kehoe produced the winning ticket and claimed the €600 jackpot.
