Wicklow Weather issue flood alert

The risk of coastal flooding and some select river basins is going to lead to preventive temporary road closures, rail closures between now and over the weekend.
Those of you who own premises near traditional flooding hotspots should take precautionary measures by nightfall especially in areas susceptible to coastal flooding and in areas near low lying river basins, flood plains. The risk is high so warnings should be heeded over the coming days to inc 3rd January to 7th January.

WIND WARNING: SEVERE: SOUTH & WEST, MODERATE: EAST.
Expect damaging to disruptive gusts topping 140kmh+ in South & West leading to travel, transport and power problems.
Leinster and east Ulster winds gusting to 120kmh causing minor damage but commuters should be on alert for spot flooding and debris on road networks in the morning. Coastal flooding will affect Sandymount, Clontarf, and possibly Wicklow Town, Arklow, Wexford and low land rivers could lead to problems in Enniscorthy and Carlow.
Several coastal county councils have issued alerts so please check out your local council for details. We will be running updates throughout the coming hours and from early tomorrow morning.
