Think tank aim to drive jobs growth in county

The ‘Wicklow Economic Think Tank’ has been set up to figure out how to best promote commerce and industry in Wicklow.

Established by Wicklow County Council and the County Enterprise Board, it is prioritising four areas of business for consideration: large business/manufacturing and mobile investment; retail and services; agri, food and maritime, and tourism, entertainment and creative industries.

Part of the think tank’s plan involves gauging the views of business people and other interested parties in the county, which is currently being undertaken via a survey.

The group is seeking a range of views from all sections of the business community in Wicklow, who can find the questionnaire here.

Officially available from today, the survey will continue to accept responses until March 5.

According to Wicklow Economic Think Tank chairman, Councillor John Ryan: “Creating a jobs strategy for Wicklow is crucial and the input of the people of Wicklow and their ideas will drive real economic activity in the county, giving our young people prospects of living and working in their local town and will allow the council to provide much needed community facilities to make Wicklow a great place to live, work and play.”
