Wicklow’s NHL Division 2 campaign got off to a flying start in Arklow on Sunday, thrashing Meath 1-15 to 0-08.
The result was a stark turnaround from the 2-17 to 0-5 Kehoe Cup victory Meath inflicted against Wicklow last month in Trim.
Wicklow led by 1-7 to 0-04 at the break with the wind at their back, but four points in 12 second-half minutes put the result beyond the Royals.
The emphatic win will be a huge confidence boost for a team that were relegated from Division 2A last year.
