45 Card Game

There will be a 45 card game on in Annacurra Community Hall on Friday March 28th, starting at 8-30.

Whist Drive

There will be a whist drive in Annacurra Community Centre Annacurra on Saturday night next March 29 starting at 9pm.

Bowls Club

After a very active few weeks the internal cup competitions are almost complete. This Thursday night we hope to hold the finals on the Agnes Doyle and Betty Dalton Cups. Jack and Ann Lynch are the finalists in the Agnes Doyle Cup. While its John Byrne and John Flood meet in the final of the Betty Dalton Cup. Thursday will be an earlier meeting at 7.40 pm in order for first final to commence at 7.45. On the interclub scene, Annacurra and Tinahely are tied after home and away matches. A replay will take place this Wednesday night in Tinahely to decide the winner.

Busy Fingers Pre-school

We would like to thank all the children and parents who turned up to support Busy Fingers in the Aughrim St. Patrick’s Day parade.  It was lovely to see so many of you and for us all to take part in this community event.

Daffodil Day Coffee Morning.

Wear a Daffodil, have a cuppa and show your support for  the Daffodil Day appeal in The Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely, 10 a.m. – 1p.m., Friday 28th March…. Daffodil pins at €3 each will be for sale throughout the morning…. All proceeds will benefit The Irish Cancer Society’s annual fundraising campaign. Thank you as always for your valued and wonderful support.

Parent & Toddler group

Aughrim Parent & Toddler group is back Friday mornings 10-12 in the “Coffee Dock” in the Sports Complex, Rednagh rd Aughrim. Join us this Friday for a St Patricks day party. All welcome to join in the fun Library

Library

Opening times  for Aughrim Library are as follows;  Tuesday 3-5 ,Wednesday 3-5 and 6-30  until 8-30, Friday  11-1 and 3-5, Saturday 2-4. Internet and photocopying available. Membership free.

Michael Dwyer Pipe Band

Avoca Recycling Centre are still  doing a scrap metal bin collection to raise funds forThe Michael Dwyer Pipe Band.  If you have any scrap metal you wish to donate, including old cars or scrap machinery, you can bring it to the Recycling Centre or arrange to have it collected by contacting Denis on 087 238 7216 or May on 086 867 7147.

We would also like to congratulate the Michael Dwyer Pipe Band who won a trophy for the best marching group in Aughrim on St. Patrick’s Day and won Second place  overall in Rathdrum’s parade and won best marching band in the Wicklow parade, so well done to all the members.  The Band welcomes  the three new members, John Kililea, Eimear Stephenson and Seán Byrne.

Community Games

A great turnout for the Aughrim St. Patricks Day Parade last Monday. A big thank you to all the boys, girls, adults, parents and coaches who came along and marched with us. We were delighted to receive from the parade committee a Highly Commended Certificate and thank you to them and everyone involved. It was a very proud moment and and great sense of community spirit that day.

Monday nights are busy and back training hard for the upcoming events over the next couple of weeks. The Rathdrum community games are hosting a cross country in Avondale on Monday 31st of March with registration at 6pm for a hopeful 6.15pm start. Entry fee is 3 euro and all age groups from U-6 upwards are very welcome to take part.

The Art and hand-writing competition has taking place in the local schools and the results will be announced this week with the 1st and 2nd place winners going forward to represent us in Blessington for the County Wicklow competition in May.
