Fine Gael Councillor, Sylvester Bourke, has called for a review of parking charges in Arklow.
Following on from the abandonment of the one-way system, Cllr Bourke said the time is right to seek submissions from the traders and members of the public to find ways of encouraging customers to do more business in the town centre.
“This might involve introducing a period of grace for free parking, perhaps the first hour free or maybe even scrapping pay parking altogether,” Cllr Bourke said. “This could be implemented for an initial six month period, followed by a review.”
