A concerned Calary resident contacted WicklowNews.net today expressing concerns about the level of water in the disused Roadstone Quarry in Calary, Kilmacanogue.
The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, stated: “The quarry would normally be pumping water out of the pit; I have never seen it so full of water. If it rises another few feet it could well flow out to the road. I wonder if any engineers deemed this pit safe to hold such a volume of water? It’s over 50 feet deep in places and so close to the road.”
Our photographs show the water level and the pipeline used to pump water out of the pit.
